Quick Match
Quick Match a fast-burning safety fuse for lighting and carrying fire from one part to another in pyrotechnical substances, ammunition, and fireworks. Black quick match is composed of a cord of cotton fibers impregnated with potassium nitrate and dusted on the surface with a paste of black powder. White quick match, which is rarer, is composed of fibers impregnated with potassium nitrate with adhesive additives, such as gum arabic and phenol-formaldehyde resin. The burn time for 1 m of quick match in the open air is 15–20 sec for the black variety and 45–50 sec for the white variety. |
