SDVoE SDVoE(Software-Defined Video Over Ethernet) Transmitting video over an IP/Ethernet network. Introduced in 2017 and governed by the SDVoE Alliance, the SDVoE advantage is the lower cost of video hardware. Compared to traditional A/V matrix switches, Ethernet switches cost up to 90% less per port. In addition, they take up less space, while providing bi-directional transmission and flexible expansion using global IP and Ethernet standards. See HDBaseT-IP.

Riding over IP/Ethernet infrastructure, SDVoE provides the upper three layers in software, which is why it is called "software-defined video." See OSI model. (Image courtesy of SDVoE Alliance, www.sdvoe.org) |
