Pollard Forestry

Pollard Forestry

the cultivation of small brushy masses on trees with their crowns cut at 2–4 m (the pollard). The shoots forming on the end of the cut trunk are cut in the second to tenth year of growth and are used for fences, basket weaving, and so forth. The best varieties for pollard forestry are tree willows, poplars, and elms. This form of forestry is common in river floodplains.
