Polist’
a river in Novgorod and Pskov oblasts, RSFSR, a left tributary of the Lovat’. The Polist’ measures 176 km long and drains an area of 3,630 sq km. Originating in Lake Polisto, it flows principally through marshy terrain. It is fed primarily by snow. The mean flow rate is 22 cu m per sec. The Polist’ freezes in late November, and the ice breaks up in early April. Timber is floated on the river, which is navigable from the city of Staraia Russa.
