Polish-German Agreement of 1934

concerning the peaceful solution of disputes, a nonaggression agreement between the sanacja regime (the “moral cleansing” of state and society) in Poland and Hitlerite Germany. It was one of the stages in the preparation for the fascist aggression against the USSR.

After secret negotiations, the agreement was signed in Berlin on Jan. 26, 1934, for a period of ten years. The USSR pointed out the danger of the pact both for Poland itself and for peace in general throughout Europe. In April 1939, fascist Germany denounced the agreement and attacked Poland on September 1.
