Queensland tick typhus

A mild to moderate infectious disease occurring in rural north eastern Australia, caused by Rickettsia australis and transmitted by the tick Ixodes holocyclus . The condition is very similar to ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPOTTED FEVER and features an obvious spot at the site of the bite which heals slowly, fever, enlarged lymph nodes and a generalized rash involving the palms and the soles. Most cases recover completely.
