Temple Bands
Temple Bands
metal ornaments woven into a woman’s hairdo. They appeared in the Bronze Age and were most common in the Middle Ages among Slavic peoples. Various tribes of eastern Slavs wore temple bands: the Krivichi wore bracelet-like bands, the Novgorod Slovenes diamond-shaped shield bands, the Viatichi bands with seven blade-shaped ornaments, the Radimichi seven-rayed bands, the Severianins spiral bands, and so forth.
