spindle cell haemangioma

A distinct, benign vascular lesion which was first described as a low-grade angiosarcoma and now viewed as a vascular malformation. It affects younger patients (under age 25). It is single or multiple, often painful, and characterised by small circumscribed reddish-blue nodules.
 
Location
Dermis or subcutis on distal extremities, especially the hands, but also in the proximal extremities, trunk, axilla, ear, vulva, penis, spleen, and pancreas.
DiffDx
Angiosarcoma, Kaposi sarcoma, glomangioma.
Associations
Mafucci syndrome, Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, lymphoedema, varicose veins.
Management
Wide local excision.
