They are: (1) The point on the anterior surface of the cornea which constitutes the summit. It is located at the intersection of the cornea with the geometrical axis of the eye (this is the anterior pole). (2) The point of intersection of the sclera with the geometrical axis (this is the posterior pole). See anteroposterior axis; axial length of the eye.
