Queckenstedt's test

[kwek´en-stets″] when the veins in the neck are compressed on one or both sides there is a rapid rise in the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid of healthy persons, and this rise quickly disappears when pressure is taken off the neck. But when there is a block in the spinal canal the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid is affected little or not at all by the maneuver.

Queckenstedt's test

A test used to detect a block in the circulation of CEREBROSPINAL FLUID in the spinal canal. While performing a LUMBAR PUNCTURE and measuring the pressure in the CSF, one of the jugular veins is briefly compressed. The pressure in the CSF should rise if there is no obstruction.
