[′kwȯrt‚sōs ′chərt] (petrology) A vitreous, sparkly, shiny chert, which under high magnification shows a heterogeneous mixture of pyramids, prisms, and faces of quartz, but also includes chert in which the secondary quartz is largely anhedral.
