slang A shortening of "politician." The pols are up on the television making lofty speeches about the state of the welfare system, when not a single one of them has ever had to survive off of the meager amounts we're allotted each week. I want my constituents to see me as a neighbor and a friend, not some soulless pol who doesn't have their interests at heart.
