USP28 is involved in DNA damage-induced apoptosis by deubiquitinating certain proteins of the DNA damage pathway (e.g., CLSPN). It is also acts at the G2 DNA damage checkpoint by deubiquitinating CLSPN and preventing its degradation by the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C). It is downregulated by hypoxia. |
