Vanderbilt Experiments

Vanderbilt Experiments

One of the largest illegal radiation-exposure experiments on record, in which researchers at Vanderbilt University gave 829 women so-called vitamin drinks, which contained radioactive iron, to assess the speed at which radioisotopes entered the placenta. At least 7 infants died of cancer or other complications linked to the radiation exposure. The mothers themselves experienced rashes, bruising, anaemia, hair and/or tooth loss and cancer.
