axial centrifugation
axial centrifugation
A method for separating serum and plasma from cells, where the separation is achieved by spinning a specially designed tube lengthwise—i.e., on its own axis.Axial centrifugation is regarded as a major advance in technology, as centrifugation is much more rapid, requiring as little as 1 minute, and thus has the potential for significantly reducing turnaround times for specimens of critical interest.
