negative g[′neg·əd·iv ′jē] (mechanics) In designating the direction of acceleration on a body, the opposite of positive g ; for example, the effect of flying an outside loop in the upright seated position. negative g G meter indicating that-2 (negative) g has been applied in the maneuver. Aircraft being pushed over and experiencing negative g.The applied vertical acceleration on the aircraft is in the reverse direction to that in the normal sense. This condition arises when the control column is pushed forward as in pushovers from a steep climb or while carrying out of outside loops (bunts). An aircraft is designed to withstand much lower values of negative g than it is for positive g. The application of negative g is prohibited in most commercial aircraft except when it is absolutely unavoidable.negative G
