Neftekamsk

 

a city incorporated in 1963 under republic (ASSR) jurisdiction, administrative center of Krasnokamskii Raion, Bashkir ASSR. Located 8 km from the Kamy River. Linked by a spur line with the Amzia station on the Kazan-Sverdlovsk railroad line. Population, 54,000 (1973). Neftekamsk was established in 1957 in connection with the opening up of the Arlan oil field. Oil is extracted there. Local plants produce artificial leather and reinforced-concrete structural members. A dairy, a brewery, a meat-packing plant, and lumber and timber chemistry enterprises operate there. A petroleum technicum and a people’s amateur theater are located there. A plant that will produce dump trucks was under construction as of 1974.
