Loev

an urban-type settlement and the administrative center of Loev Raion, Gomel’ Oblast, Byelorussian SSR; a landing on the right bank of the Dnieper River at the influx of the Sozh, 60 km from the Rechitsa station on the Gomel’-Kalinkovichi line. Population, 5,100 (1972). Loev is the site of a building-materials combine and branches of the Rechitsa Creamery and the Gomel’ Haberdashery Production Association. There is a teacher-training school.
