Mras-Su

 

(also Akmras), a river in Kemerovo Oblast, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Tom’ River (Ob’ River basin). It is 338 km long and drains an area of 8,840 sq km. The Mras-Su rises on the Abakan Range and meanders through a deep valley along the Gornaia Shoriia. There are rapids in the channel. The river is fed by mixed sources, mainly snow. The mean flow rate 6 km from the mouth is 173 cu m per sec. The Mras-Su freezes in mid-November and thaws in April. Timber is floated on the river. The city of Myski is near the river’s mouth; there are deposits of iron ore in the basin.
