Arsanov, Saidbei Arsanbekovich

 

Born Oct. 2, 1889, in Novye Atagi, Shali Raion. Chechen Soviet writer. Born into the family of a peasant-farmhand. First published in 1926.

In 1930, Arsanov organized the Association of Proletarian Writers in Groznyi. In his most significant work, the historical novel When Friendship Becomes Known (1956, in Russian), Arsanov depicts the struggle for liberation of the Chechen and Ingush peoples under the leadership of the Russian proletariat.
