non-precision approach
non-precision approachA radar-controlled approach or an approach flown by reference to navigational aids, in which electronic glide-slope information is not available. Examples are VOR (very high frequency omnidirectional radio-range), TACAN (tactical air navigation), LOC (localizer), ASR (airport surveillance radar), LDA (localizer-type directional aid), or SDF (simplified directional facility) approaches. Such approaches have higher minimums than precision approaches.AcronymsSeeNPA |
