A benign, self-limited reactive salivary gland inflammation, which may clinically and histologically mimic malignancy (e.g., mucoepidermoid carcinoma). Most necrotising sialometaplasia occurs in minor salivary glands (SG); it may occur in SGs of the upper aerodigestive tract or the larynx.DiffDx
