an old Russian unit of dry measure. First mentioned in the late 15th century the os’mina equaled one-half of a chetvert’, or four chetveriki. (The chetvert’ was the basic dry measure for grain.) The Statute of Weights and Measures of 1899 standardized the os’mina at 104.956 liters.
