Makarev

a city, the administrative center of Makar’ev Raion, Kostroma Oblast, RSFSR.

Makar’ev is located on the right bank of the Unzha River (a tributary of the Volga), 53 km south of the Neia station on the Bui-Kotel’nich railroad and 184 km east of Kostroma. Makar’ev is a logging and timber-rafting center. Founded in 1439, it became a city in 1778.
