Established: 1978.
Location:Oklahoma's panhandle.
Activities:Hunting, wildlife observation.
Special Features:Optima Dam was completed in 1978 but the impoundment never reached expected levels. To date, the lake has never risen enough to flood any of the refuge lands.
Habitats: 4,333 acres of grasslands and wooded bottomland.
Access: Open year round during daylight hours.
Wild life: White-tailed deer, coyotes, Rio Grande turkeys, quail, turkey vulture, American Kestrel, hawks, bald and golden eagles.
