Location:On Rhode Island's south shore, about halfway between Westerly and Naragannsett.
Facilities:Visitor center with interpretive exhibits and gift store, trails, observation platforms.
Activities:Surf fishing, hiking, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:Located on a former naval air station, the refuge provides visitors with more than 3 miles of trails. More than 250 bird species visit the refuge, and 70 nest here.
Habitats: 900 acres of saltmarshes, kettle ponds, freshwater wetlands, maritime shrublands and forests dominated by oak or maple.
Access: Open from dawn to dusk year round.
Wild life: Piping plover, osprey, bluebirds, woodcock, common merganser, and red-breasted merganser.
