Law Code of Georgi V

a code of laws issued between 1325 and 1346 to extend Georgian feudal law to the areas of the upper courses of the Aragvi and Ksani rivers, where inhabitants were resisting the establishment of feudal relations. The code preserved such obsolete customs as the blood feud, for example, in the case of the abduction of another man’s wife, and the murder of thieves apprehended after pursuit. It was chiefly significant for introducing new laws dealing with criminal liability. Fines as a rule were imposed in relation to the social status of the concerned parties.
