micellar flooding micellar flooding[mī′sel·ər ′fləd·iŋ] (petroleum engineering) A two-step enhanced oil recovery process in which a surfactant slug is injected into the well followed by a larger slug of water containing a high-molecular-weight polymer which pushes the chemicals through the field and improves mobility and sweep efficiency. Also known as microemulsion flooding; surfactant flooding. |
