a schistose rock, consisting of mica and quartz with, usually, some feldspar.

mica schist

[′mī·kə ‚shist] (petrology) A schist which is composed essentially of mica and quartz and whose characteristic foliation is mainly due to the parallel orientation of the mica flakes.
