Lava Tree State Monument
Location:Off Pahoa-Pohoiki Road (Highway 132), 2.7 miles southeast of Pahoa.
Facilities:Picnic area, walking path; no drinking water.
Activities:Nature study.
Special Features:Park preserves a forest of lava trees, an unusual volcanic feature thatresulted when a lava flow swept through this forested area and leftbehind lava molds of the tree trunks.
