Lava, José

 

Born 1912. Figure in the Communist movement of the Philippines. A lawyer by education.

In the mid-1940’s, Lava became one of the leaders of the Communist Party. He became general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines in May 1948. In October 1950 he was arrested. In May 1951 he was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was released from prison in January 1970. He has written works on the Communist movement in the Philippines.
