Othmer, Donald F.

(1904– ) chemical engineer, educator; born in Omaha, Nebr. Of his more than 150 patents, the Othmer still (1927), which improved the design of distillation plants and processes, is his most important. After five years at Kodak (1927–32), he taught at Polytechnic University in New York. He coedited the Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology.
