Omega-3 marine triglycerides

Omega-3 marine triglycerides

Fish oils containing the omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids eicospentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids. A third type of omega 3 fatty acid, alpha linoleic acid, is derived mainly from vegetable oils. There is good evidence that fish oils are protective against coronary heart disease and have value after heart attacks. They are also used to treat patients with abnormally high blood fat (triglyceride) levels who are at risk of heart attacks. A brand name for the oils, used as a drug in capsule form, is Maxepa.
