Maikain

an urban-type settlement in Baianaul Raion, Pavlodar Oblast, Kazakh SSR; located on the northern border of the Kazakh Melkosopochnik, 145 km southwest of Pavlodar. Population, 9,700 (1970). Maikain came into being in 1932 in connection with the exploration and exploitation of gold and polymetallic deposits.
