Nikola Khristov Gabrovski
Gabrovski, Nikola Khristov
Born Sept. 6, 1864, in Tyrnovo; died July 11, 1925, in Sofia. Active participant in the Bulgarian workers’ movement; publicist. One of the founders of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party (1891).
Gabrovski edited the pamphlet series Bulgarian Social Democratic Library, which was published by the party, and the newspaper Rabotnik (1892-94). He was a deputy to the National Assembly from the Bulgarian Workers’ Social Democratic Party (BWSDP) during 1894-1900 and 1902-03. In the struggle of the revolutionary Marxists against opportunism he adopted a reformist position. In 1914, Gabrovski joined the BWSDP (Narrow Socialist). He wrote articles on the Bulgarian workers’ and socialist movement and translated foreign scholarly socialist literature. From 1919 to 1923 he was a deputy to the National Assembly from the Bulgarian Communist Party (Narrow Socialist). Gabrovski was killed by the fascist police.
