A test devised and performed by an HH Beard, which was based on measuring chorionic gonadotropin in urine. Urine hCG is measured in pregnancy to monitor trophoblastic disease, including partial and complete moles and choriocarcinoma; it is also elevated in hyperreactio luteinalis, germ cell tumours including embryonal carcinomas. The Beard test has been claimed to be highly accurate in diagnosing nontrophoblastic cancers and monitoring their progress; no peer-reviewed data supports this claim.
