a genus of perennial plants of the family Liliaceae. They are small bulbous herbs with narrowly linear leaves. The small flowers, which are white or yellow, are solitary or, less commonly, in groups of two or three; the perianth is funnel-shaped and has six persistent segments. The fruit is a capsule. There are approximately 20 species, distributed in the arctic and temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. Three species are found in the USSR, including Lloydia serotina, an arctic-alpine species found in the arctic, the Carpathians, the Caucasus, Siberia, Middle Asia, and the Far East. This species grows in tundras, on alpine meadows, and on rocky slopes.
