ADNP A gene on chromosome 20q13.13 which encodes a protein that is up-regulated by vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and may be involved in VIP’s stimulatory effect on normal cell growth and cancer proliferation. The encoded protein contains one homeobox and 9 zinc finger domains, suggesting a role as a transcription factor in proliferation, neuroprotection and increasing viability of certain cell types by modulating p53 activity.ADNP
