Muztagh Ata the second highest peak in the Kongur (Kungur) massif of the Kashgar Range, western Kunlun Mountains, in western China. Elevation, 7,555 m. Muztagh Ata is composed of gneisses and crystalline schists and is covered with neves and numerous glaciers, some measuring as long as 21 km. There is a cold detrital desert on the slopes; shrub vegetation grows in the ravines. |
