Muzkol
Muzkol
a mountain range in the Pamirs, in the Tadzhik SSR, north of the Murgab River. The Muzkol Range extends in an almost east-west direction; in the middle, it bends in an arc to the north. The range measures 110 km long and rises to 6,233 m on Sovetskikh Ofitserov Peak. Muzkol is composed primarily of metamorphic schists, limestones, and sandstones. The highest areas have pronounced mountain-glacial relief; there are glaciers. Rocky high-mountain landscapes with cliffs and taluses on steep slopes dominate. Cold high-mountain deserts with extremely sparse cryophilic vegetation are found at the base of the range.
