Nikolai Nikolaevich Gusev

Gusev, Nikolai Nikolaevich

 

Born Mar. 9 (21), 1882, in Riazan’; died Oct. 23, 1967, in Moscow. Soviet specialist in literature.

From 1907 to 1909, Gusev was the personal secretary of L. N. Tolstoy, and he accepted Tolstoy’s moral teachings. From 1925 to 1931 he was director of the Tolstoy Museum in Moscow. Gusev participated in the editing of the jubilee Complete Collected Works of Tolstoy in 90 volumes (1928–58). He was the author of works on the life and creative work of L. N. Tolstoy. He was awarded two orders and also medals.
