Location:Northeastern California. Accessible by US 395; CA 36, 44, and 89. Nearby cities/towns include Chico, Mill Creek, Red Bluff, Redding, and Susanville.
Facilities:Resort with cabins, campgrounds, dispersed camping, picnic sites, hiking trails, OHV trails, marina, boat ramps, 6 winter sports areas.
Activities:Camping, fishing, boating, sailing, swimming, OHV riding, water-skiing, hiking, horseback riding, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling.
Special Features:Forest surrounds Lassen Volcanic National Park (see entry in national parks section), and encompasses an area of California known as "the crossroads," where the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades, and the Great Basin converge. Points of interest include Eagle Lake, California's second largest natural lake; ancient pictographs and hieroglyphics; volcanic lava flow tubes; and 120 miles of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (see entry in national trails section).
