Livadiia

an urban-type settlement in Crimean Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, on the shore of the Black Sea, 3 km southwest of Yalta. Livadiia is a seaside climatic resort having a beach with fine sand; there is a cardiological sanatorium and a house of rest. It has a scenic park (1834; gardener I. Peter) and is the site of the neo-Renaissance Great Livadiia Palace (1910–11, architect N. P. Krasnov). The palace, which was a residence of the tsar until 1917, is now the All-Union Central Trade Union Council sanatorium. The settlement is surrounded with vineyards; nearby is the Livadiia grape-growing and wine-making sovkhoz. During the Great Patriotic War the Yalta Conference took place in Livadiia in February 1945.

an urban-type settlement in Primor’e Krai, RSFSR, on the Vostok Bay of the Sea of Japan, 45 km west of the Tikhookeanskaia railroad station. There is fishing, ship repair, and fur farming.
