Liubertsy

 

a city (since 1925) in Moscow Oblast, RSFSR; a railroad junction 19 km southeast of Moscow. Population, 146,000 (1972; 48,000, 1939).

Liubertsy has plants for the manufacture of agricultural machinery, commercial machinery, and bridge equipment, an experimental drilling machinery plant, a wood products combine, a piano factory, and an experimental power equipment plant. The production and publishing combine of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR is also located in Liubertsy. The city is the site of an evening division of the All-Union Correspondence Institute of Construction Engineering. It also has a technicum of agricultural machine building and a medical school.
