M0159300 (môr′ē-äk′, môr-yäk′), François 1885-1970. French writer many of whose novels, notably Thérèse Desqueyroux (1927), are psychological studies of temptation, sin, and redemption in the lives of bourgeois characters. He won the 1952 Nobel Prize for literature.
