An autosomal dominant (OMIM:613375 )condition characterised by diabetes of childhood or early-adulthood onse (usually before 25 years of age), a primary defect in insulin secretion and insulin-independence at the beginning of the disease.
Molecular pathology
Caused by defects in BLK, which encodes a nonreceptor tyrosine-kinase that is involved in cell proliferation and differentiation, upregulates insulin synthesis and secretion in response to glucose, and enhances expression of pancreatic beta-cell transcription factors.
