Mott, C. S. Mott, C. S. (Charles Stewart)(1875–1973) automobile executive, philanthropist; born in Newark, N.J. He studied mechanical engineering and served in the Spanish-American War. He ran the Weston-Mott automobile parts company (1899–1913) and was a leading executive at General Motors (1913–67). He formed the Mott Foundation (1926) to finance cultural, educational, and health programs, especially in Flint, Michigan. In response to speculations about his wealth, he answered, "What I'm worth is what I am doing for other people." |
