Motor Vehicle Service
in military usage, one of the rear services of the Soviet armed forces.
The motor vehicle service engages in supplying the troops with vehicle and tractor equipment and in organizing and implementing technically correct utilization, servicing, maintenance, repair, and recovery of that equipment. It directs the vehicle and tractor training of the troops, the scientific and research work for perfecting vehicle and tractor equipment, and the training of technical, engineering, and command cadres of military motorists. The service elaborates manuals and regulations on the technical support of motor vehicles, works out measures for the prevention of motor vehicle accidents and catastrophes among the troops, and helps the All-Union Voluntary Society for Aid to the Army, Air Force, and Navy with the training in driving specializations of youths of premilitary age.
