Nevskoe Lake

a lagoon in Sakhalin Oblast, RSFSR. Area, 178 sq km. Located in the southern part of the Tym’-Poronai Lowland. Bounded on the east, north, and west by sphagnum bogs, the lake is separated on the south from Terpenie Gulf of the Sea of Okhotsk by a narrow spit. The Olen’ia, Rukutama, and other rivers empty into the Nevskoe. Fluctuations in the water level depend primarily on the tides.
