Nevodchikov, Mikhail

 

(M. Novodchikov). Born 1706; died after 1767. Russian seafarer.

From 1740 to 1742, Nevodchikov took part in the Second Kamchatka Expedition. In 1743 he described the western coast of Kamchatka northward from Bol’sheretsk. In 1745 he sailed aboard the vessel Evdokiia eastward from the mouth of the Kamchatka River to the Blizhnie Islands group in the Aleutian Archipelago and compiled a map of the islands. He also compiled a map of Kamchatka. A bay on one of the Blizhnie Islands was named after Nevodchikov.
